For this Piece, I originally just wanted to make a Flower pot For mothers day. I decided to make it square when I saw another project do something similar. For the glaze I had no Idea what I wanted to do. I decided on flowers but I wanted the background to be more interesting. To get this effect. I used only one layer of underglaze in order to get some translucency and texture, overlapping it in places before painting on the flowers and covering it in clear glaze.
I started this just wanting do do some sort of beach, water scene. I ended up deciding to make an observatory and mountains. This Project went along with a poem we recieved from Mod Lit which was based on the night sky.
This is a checkerboard, I started by rolling out a slab. I cut and shaped it to a square and cut the lines before letting it dry out to put underglaze on. I still need to fill in some of the squares to make the checkerboard pattern once it is fired. For the game pieces I rolled out a coil and let it dry before cutting it, they will need to be glazed once they're fired.
I wanted to make a Cup that would be easy to hold, stable and big enough to use as a glass. I had the Idea to base it on a coconut after seeing someone at my table painting fruit on her piece. I used the pinch pot technique to form the shape, carved the husk on the side, and made the line around rim. Then I allowed it to dry for a while before adding white underglaze. Its not finished, still needs to be fired and glazed brown with a clear layer on the inside
Growing up I always loved superheroes. I always tried to make costumes as a kid to it was really fun to be able to create a this mask out of a medium like clay. This is Nightwings mask. Robin of Batman and Robin became Nightwing as he became an adult so this piece also feels very fitting to it being my senior year
just a lil bug i made for fun :)
